Some of these sites contain adult material, some requiring no credit card, so parents would be advised to check them out
before allowing their children to view them.

A technically impressive cam community site. Using Flash based streaming webcam, audio and text chatrooms, with the ability to embed the cam, audio and chat onto your own webpage, facebook, or weblog. There are also facilities to upload and store photos, videos and music. This site has something for everyone... (assuming you are under 25. More on this in a moment.)
Slightly on the downside, this site is largely populated by teens, which is no bad thing in itself, especially if you're a teen, but they do have the tendency to be somewhat hostile towards those of an older age group. Now while it's understandable that they are wary of undesirable characters who frequent similar cam sites, it can be very annoying to be accused of being such, when all you're doing is having a chat with your friends.
After many requests, stickam have now enabled age filtering in users' live chatrooms, so adult chatters can keep the teens out. This only filters registered users though, so any determined teen can simply log out, and join a room as an unregistered guest. You can however set your room as "registered users only", which is fine if you're only chatting on the stickam site, but not so useful if your cam/chatroom is embedded on your own website.
Not perfect, but if you're prepared to forgive the shortcomings, it's a pretty cool site.

A bright and colourful webcam community site, with multiple chatrooms, profiles, forums, games and everything else you'd expect from a well developed community.
The site uses an active-X plugin to access your cam and mic, which works very nicely and saves on complicated software installation. A very impressive site with plenty of users to meet and make friends with.

This looks like a new site. A small and friendly webcam and audio chatroom that uses flash to access your cam and mic.
The layout is simple, and effective... none of those complex or confusing layouts you find on some sites. Well worth taking a look at.

This is a free webcam community chat site featuring both moderated and unmoderated rooms, though unregistered users are restricted to the lobby area.
The site uses flash to access your cam and audio, which is handy, as you aren't required to install any software.
There is a cash and credit system, where you accumulate credits for hosting a room, and can convert those credits for cash, which sounds very interesting.

and free webcam broadcast software, allows you to
display in either general, adult, or private areas. There are several public chatrooms, and also audio chat.
Parents should be aware that many of the cams here are found in the adult area.

This is one of the longest runninng webcam community sites, and as such has gone through many changes
over the years, some for the better, some for the worse. The free software while now easier to set up than
it once was does seem somewhat less efficient too... though that is just a personal opinion.
What this site excells at is providing a family friendly webcam environment. There are lots of streaming cams, some
featuring people with their own chatrooms, some are views inside people's houses showing the day to day goings on, and others are outside views. While there is an adult area on the site, it is
well hidden isn't something likely to be stumbled across by someone who isn't specifically looking
for it.

Very very cool. Anyone who's familiar with AnyWebcam will feel at home on this site, as it's very similar.
There's heavy use of java and you'll need the latest java plugin from Java.com
to make it work. Once that's sorted, you can enjoy multiple webcams, multiple chatrooms, self configuring webcam broadcast software,
webcam ratings, so you can view adult cams or turn the family filter on.
While the use of java my be an initial complication, it has the great benefit of allowing Apple Mac users to enjoy the site too, and makes this
one of the very few webcam communities that supports both viewing and broadcasting on the Apple Mac as well as Windows PC.
To top it all off, this site is completely free and relies on volountary donations to finance itself.

A fairly simple cam chat community site. There's a large list of links to the cams of people who chat here, though as this is not dynamically
updated, not all of those listed are active at any one time. There is a single community chatroom which though not crowded is certainly a friendly place.
While this site is not of the corporate of commercial variety, it represents a very good example of what can be achieved by independat web users.

A pretty straightforward webcam chat site. Very easy to join... just click the link to agree to the terms, and provided you have the flash plugin, you're straight in and chatting.
Flash is used to run your cam and audio, which is nice, though there is some fairly obtrusive advertising, and the webpage resizes itself automatically, which won't be to everyone's liking.
Content on the cams is frequently of an adult nature, and frequently male, to put it politely.
Free access lasts for around 20 minutes, after which you're required to either buy membership, or wait for 15 minutes before you can join for free again.

Making use of the free WebcamXP cam and chat software, this site does not allow any adult material
and as such, should be suitable for the whole family.
